What to Expect From Me as Your Therapist

Hey there,

So, you're thinking about starting therapy—or maybe restarting it—and you're wondering what working with me is actually like. Totally fair. Choosing a therapist is a big deal, and you deserve to know what you’re signing up for.

Here’s the gist:

I’m not the therapist who just nods and asks, “How does that make you feel?” over and over. (I mean, I might ask that sometimes—I'm still a therapist—but I promise I’m not a robot.) I’m also not the type who drops truth bombs with zero warning and calls it “being honest.” That’s not helpful—it’s just overwhelming.

What I am is someone who’s really good at telling people what they need to hear, in a way that they can actually hear it. I’ll always be honest with you—but in a way that feels supportive, not shaming. I approach therapy with curiosity, not judgment, and I see us as a team. You're the expert on your life; I'm here to help you make sense of it, shift what’s not working, and grow what is.

Sessions with me are collaborative, empowering, and—dare I say it—sometimes even fun. Yes, we’ll talk about the deep stuff, but I also believe that therapy can include laughter, lightness, and the occasional well-timed meme reference. Because let’s face it, being human is weird, and sometimes you just have to laugh about it.

I’ll encourage you to look at things from different perspectives—not to be annoying, but because sometimes the tiniest shift can open up a whole new way of seeing yourself. And that’s where real change starts.

So no, you don’t have to have it all together to start. You just have to show up. I’ll meet you where you are—with kindness, curiosity, and maybe a little humor along the way.

We’ll figure the rest out together.
